In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Gian Berkenbrock explores how state-of-the-art AI models are redefining the software testing lifecycle, effectively shifting the field from a deterministic to a probabilistic discipline. He will review the software development process, introduce a new perspective for software testing, and analyze how these technologies address complex challenges in modern software architectures. His talk aims to equip students and practitioners with the skills to transition from traditional test scripting to engineering intelligent, resilient quality systems.

Prof. Dr. Berkenbrock has been a professor of computer science at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) in Brazil since 2013. His research focus are the systematic development of reliable, embedded systems. In his teaching, he covers fundamentals of computer science for the mechatronics and aerospace engineering programs. Since 2022, he has been working on real-time systems, industrial automation, and fundamentals of systems engineering. He also teaches software architecture, formal verification, and embedded software testing in the master's program at UFSC.
Currently, he is invited guest professor at THI and teaches Advanced C++, LLMs and SW Testing and supervises a student project on Embedded Systems.
Prof. Berkenbrock's stay is funded by the visiting professor program of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
